My name is Danielle Yampolsky, and I am a senior at Penn concentrating in Finance at Wharton and minoring in Political Science. I am a Philadelphia native and first generation American, as my parents immigrated from the Soviet Union nearly 30 years ago. In 2019, I had the honor of serving as the President of the Penn College Republicans. Now, I am spending this semester in Washington, DC (through Penn in Washington), where I will be interning for Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel at the Republican National Committee.
Washington, DC has been amazing thus far. The first full week of January (Jan 6-10) was our orientation for PIW, where we had our first sets of classes and got the opportunity to meet Penn alums. It has been incredibly inspiring to learn about the variety and diversity of career paths that fellow Penn alumni have taken in DC. Last week, I began my internship at the RNC, where I am eagerly learning the ropes of everything that goes on in the Chairwoman’s Office!
One of my goals this semester is to create more engagement amongst conservative leaning students and alumni. Throughout the semester, I will be utilizing this blog to post updates about my internship and how my attempt at “Connecting Penn Republicans” is going. Ultimately, I hope to create a formal alumni network for conservative and right-leaning Penn alums in the Washington, DC area, as well as show current conservative-leaning Penn students that there are many amazing opportunities in the swamp.
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to an amazing semester in DC!
