Tuition is at the regular Penn rate, and housing charges are comparable to on-campus accommodations in Philadelphia. Students are responsible for their own meals. PIW semester students do not pay the General Fee or the Recreational Fee, but should expect extra expenses for commuting and working in Washington.
Participants pay tuition, housing costs, and the technology fee directly to Penn. They remain eligible for financial aid. In addition, students who qualify for financial aid are eligible for the Penn in Washington Semester Fellowship if their internship is with the government or non-profit sector. The award amount is $1,500 and will more than cover any additional expenses associated with participation in the program. This award will be reduced by a like amount if internship sponsors provide pay for the internship.
