Our goal is to help students connect their academic experience here at Penn with real world policy experience.

Welcome to the FPPIP/PIW website. These two programs, housed in the Fels Institute of Government, serve students interested in exploring the field of public policy.
The Fels Public Policy Internship Program is the on-campus resource for finding and succeeding in public policy internships. The program, sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences and open to all students in the College, helps students in the College identify internships that match their interests. The searchable database we maintain includes internship listings in Washington, New York, Philadelphia, and all the nation’s state capitals. While the blog and other tips found on the FPPIP page is accessible to all visitors, the database is Pennkey protected and limited to College students and alumni.
Penn in Washington is a summer-long program for all Penn students and alumni living and working in the D.C. area. The program arranges a one-on-one mentoring program with Penn alumni; organizes networking events with alumni in particular locations, like the State Department; and manages a summer-long speakers program. You’ll find a summary of last year’s program here (PIW 2009 Report: pg.1, pg.2)
During the academic year, program staff sends out a weekly summary of on-campus and other events of interest in the public policy field, new internship postings and career information. To sign up for our weekly public policy events and opportunities email, click here.
